HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Just over a month after Hill County Attorney Karen Alley announced she would be resigning in order to take another job, a Deputy Attorney has also handed in their resignation letter after receiving another job offer.
The Hill County Commission has announced the resignation of Deputy County Attorney R. Tim Jeffrey, effective November 2nd. Jeffrey is currently Hill County’s only Deputy Attorney.
“I plan to continue to work until my departure,” the resignation letter states. “I will take an active role in ensuring the transition is as smooth as possible. I would like to express my gratitude for the opportunity to have worked for you these last three years. Although I have accepted a position with another employer, it will be difficult to match the professional satisfaction I felt during my time in this office.”
The Commission has begun to search for a replacement for Jeffrey, while also continuing to work to find a replacement for Alley, whose resignation is effective October 24th.
Hill County Vice-Chair Mark Peterson says that they are working on securing the commitment of someone to hold the County Attorney position on a temporary basis, and hope to make a formal announcement soon.
However, Peterson says to his knowledge, they have yet to receive any applications for anyone interested in filling the position on a more permanent basis.
The position of County Attorney is an elected office, and will next be on the ballot in 2022. The Commission expects whoever they appoint to run to keep the seat.
