HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Health Board met virtually on Friday afternoon to provide an update on COVID-19 in the community.
Health Officer Kim Larson says COVID-19 vaccinations are going well in the county. She says of the roughly 12,300 people eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in Hill County, 30 percent (3,686 people) are fully vaccinated.
Larson urges everyone that is eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
“What they are going to do is kind of allow us to get back to our normal life. What we used to know, pre-COVID, which seems a long time ago. When we get close to a high percentage of our community vaccinated, you’re not only protecting yourself when you get that vaccine, you’re also protecting other people around you, who if they choose not to get the vaccine or if for some other reason cannot receive the vaccine, protect themselves. This vaccine also makes it so that you do not spread that virus to those who are vulnerable and may get it. So it’s really important to do that to protect yourself and others in the community.”
Several places in Hill County continue to offer COVID-19 vaccines. The Health Department andWestern Drug Pharmacy have the Moderna vaccine available, IGA and Wal-Mart have the one-shot Johnson & Johnson, and the Rocky Boy Health Center has all three vaccines available. All of these places have opened up eligibility to the general public, and you can call them for more information.
As of Thursday evening, Hill, County has reported a total of 1,949 COVID-19 cases. Five are active, and an additional 14 people are in quarantine after being considered close contacts.
The next Health Board COVID-19 update is scheduled for 1 PM on April 23rd.
