HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Hill County is preparing to host free virtual QPR Suicide Prevention Trainings.
These 90 minute training sessions will take place from 1-2:30 PM on the first Friday of February, March, April and May.
Amber Spring is the Chair of the Hill County Suicide Awareness Coalition and says these sessions are crucial, especially as the pandemic continues to drag on.
“We are seeing an increase in mental health symptoms, especially depression and anxiety. So I think even more now than before, it’s important for us to feel like we have people in our community who are comfortable and feel capable of being able to have discussions, intervene, to have a better understanding so that they can feel comfortable.”
QPR stands for question, persuade, refer and is an emergency response to someone in crisis that can save lives. It is the most widely taught Gatekeeper training in the world.
To receive a certification, you only need to attend one training session. The certification is active for two years.
Each session is limited to 25 participants, but there is still room available for all sessions.
