HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Behavioral Health Local Advisory Council is putting on a Mental Health Matters Mini Conference this Wednesday.
People can attend this free conference virtually or in person at the Hensler Auditorium beginning at 2 PM.
MSU-Northern Counselor Amber Spring will be one of the speakers, and will talk about youth and anxiety.
“I am hearing especially in my private practice and in my involvement in the community, just more and more about how many of our youth are experiencing anxiety. A lot of parents and school staff members, are just struggling to figure out how to address that. And so I’m not going to come with all the solutions, but I think just allowing people to learn a little bit more about anxiety in general, what signs and symptoms they might see in youth, and how to coach them through and help them develop some self-management strategies, as well as learning a little bit more about when professional services might be a better option for them.”
Other speakers will discuss topics such as medications for opioid use disorder, Narcan, fentanyl and drug trends on the Hi-Line, and the impact of marijuana on the adolescent brain.
