HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Hill County Officials met in the Timmons Room of the County Courthouse on Thursday morning for their monthly meeting.
Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator Amanda Frickel says that they have continued to make sure frontline workers have adequate personal protective equipment as the pandemic continues. She added that Hill County is still in a drought, and farmers are concerned that if the area doesn’t receive enough moisture over the next few months, the upcoming fire season could wreak havoc.
Building Manager Daryl Anez provided an update on the Courthouse elevator, which has been out of service for several months. Repairs have been delayed several times, but Anez is hopeful the elevator will be back in service by the end of the month.
Health Officer Kim Larson went over much of what was discussed at Wednesday’s Health Board meeting, but added that staff and residents of all Assisted Living and Long Term Care Facilities in the County have been provided the opportunity to take the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. She also said that vaccinating everyone in Phase 1B will take several months, with about 4,000 County residents eligible and the Health Department hoping to receive around 180 doses a week.
Justice of the Peace Audrey Barger said that they are planning on conducting a jury trial next week, their first in months due to COVID-19 precautions. Barger says that one of the steps they will be taking to prevent the spread of the virus will be to limit the amount of people that can be in the Court room at a time.
County Commissioner Diane McLean announced that the County will soon receive over $1 million from the Governor’s Coronavirus Relief Fund, which provides reimbursement to local governments for expenditures made during the pandemic.
The next County Officials meeting is scheduled for February 18th.
