YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK (NMB) – An Illinois woman has been sentenced to four days in federal custody and fined over $2,000 after pleading guilty to willfully remaining, approaching, and photographing wildlife within 100 yards.
Samantha Dehring, 25, is also banned from Yellowstone National Park for one year.
On May 10th, 2021, Dehring took pictures of an adult female grizzly and her three cubs in the Roaring Mountain area. While other visitors backed away, Dehring remained in close proximity to the bears, and the adult grizzly bluff charged her.
The case was investigated by the Yellowstone National Park Rangers.
