James Brown on Securing Montana Finances

Recently, Montana Commisioner of Insurance and Securities, James Brown, talked to New Media Broadcasters about recent action he’s taken to help secure Montanans financially.

“One of the things that we came across was that there were companies that were offering financial services in Montana without properly registering with us, and Montanans were harmed as a result. I entered several settlement agreements with these providers to have them 1. register with the state of Montana, 2. put a consent agreement on them that where they have to take certain steps to properly ensure they are operating correctly. And 3rd is we fined them $50,000 collectively for their illegal operations in Montana, and that will go into our restitution fund that we operate here at the agency.”
