Jericho Mountain Fire Grows to 150 Acres Near Macdonald Pass; Crews Focus on Containment Efforts

POWELL COUNTY, Mont. — The Jericho Mountain Fire, located about five miles south of Macdonald Pass in Powell County, has burned roughly 150 acres and remains 0% contained.

The fire is burning in dense, dead fuels in rugged terrain.

Fire crews are focusing efforts on the east flank to protect nearby residences and prevent spread toward Rimini.

Aviation resources, heavy equipment, and hand crews are active.

A Type 3 team has assumed command.

A closure order for the Helena Ranger District south of Highway 12 is expected.
