HILL COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – A 20-year-old Kremlin male was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon on US Highway 2.
The Montana Highway Patrol says they received a report of a crash at 5:13 PM Saturday at mile marker 368 of US-2, about 4.5 miles east of Kremlin.
The crash report states that the Kremlin man was driving a 2009 GMC Sierra westbound when he crossed the centerline of the highway. An eastbound 2017 Chevy Silverado pulled to the right in an attempt to avoid the collision, but the Sierra ended up striking the Silverado head-on.
The driver of the Sierra was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Silverado, a 33-year-old male from Havre, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Northern Montana Hospital. Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.
The drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles. The name of the victim has not been released.
Alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The road was bare and dry at the time of the crash.
