WOLF POINT, Mont. (NMB) – In the four-way race in the Democratic primary for Senate District 16, which stretches from Box Elder to just west of Culbertson, Kristofer FourStar believes his experience in both the private and public sector makes him the best candidate.
A small business owner and insurance agent with New York Life in Wolf Point, FourStar says he wants to provide representation for eastern Montana and the Hi-Line.
“When it comes to access to healthcare funds, to roads, sometimes we’re kind of left out of the loop on some of those things. Those are some of the major issues – are healthcare, access to telecommunications. Good, competitive telecommunications, so we’re not lagging behind the rest of the country.”
FourStar has also worked as the Native American Liasion for former U.S. Senator John Walsh, which he says gave him a new perspective on politics.
“The benefit of knowing your legislators and having that connection. It’s just not some esoteric group that’s set up way far away. It’s actually individuals here in Montana that make the difference of everyday, meaning that you can easily reach out to your legislator, or at least you should be able to.”
FourStar has also worked with the health department on the Fort Peck Reservation and has previously lived on the Fort Belknap Reservation.
