The Chinook girls’ basketball team has been regaining its identity as one of the dominant teams in District 1B play lately. New Media Broadcasters got the thoughts of head coach Mike Seymour regarding the team’s last two wins against Fort Benton and Shelby.
“I felt like we played more as a team,” Seymour said. “We shared the basketball better, encouraged each other better.”
“Just an overall good team effort (and) good team wins,” Seymour continued.
The Lady Beeters’ tests this week will be against teams they took care of earlier in the season: this time playing host to Rocky Boy before going out on the road to Choteau. Seymour said the tides have turned and that it’s go-time as the calendar turns to postseason month.
“I tell you what, if we can’t get up for games, we shouldn’t be here playing,” Seymour said. “I think it’s not real big secret: there isn’t any big pregame speech that we have to give.”
“It’s time to roll the ball out and see where we’re at again,” Seymour continued. “Both Rocky Boy and Choteau are going to put up fights against us.”
“Anytime anybody plays against us, it seems like we get their best effort,” Seymour said. “We’ll have to be ready.”
Chinook girls’ basketball (10-2, 6-1) will play versus Rocky Boy (4-8, 3-5) around 7:30pm on Friday night, followed by Choteau on the road around 5:30pm on Saturday. Noah Friedman will call Friday night’s action as both games will be on KRYK-101.3FM and HiLineToday.com.
