The Chinook Sugarbeeters Girls Basketball Team are on their way to the Class “C” State Basketball Tournament. The Sugarbeeters now sitting at (25-1) on the season, defeated Fort Benton (48-37) in the challenge game to advance to the State Tournament.
After suffering their first loss of the season to Roy-Winifred in the 2nd round of Divisionals, the Sugarbeeters bounced back winning 3 straight. When looking back on the tournament, Head Coach Mike Jones had this to say about his team’s performance:
“I thought they battled hard. Showed some determination and some grit, found themselves down a couple of times throughout the tournament and battled back. Seeing them remain calm under that pressure was exciting to see.” – Jones
With over a week off before the State Tournament begins, Coach Jones is electing to let his team heal up after 5 games played:
“We’re going to heal up a little bit we just played five games in five days. We are a little banged up, so we want to make sure we heal. Be prepared both mentally and physically, which means getting rest and getting ready for the next tournament.” – Jones
