A program aimed at establishing new leaders within the community is wrapping up this month. The Havre Chamber in tandem with Havre Public schools offer the leadership high school program.
Jessica Fagerbakke the Havre chamber director explains the program.
“So, the program is a six-month program we started in October with a two-day retreat with Sheri Win. It was amazing. The students learned a lot about leadership. They helped develop their leadership skills, and how to deal with difficult situations, how to deal with different personality types. Really just armed themselves with how to be a strong leader and how to deal with a lot of different situations and then we take them out one day each month from October until March we take them to different organizations. We teach them about for profit, non- profit, and corporate. Then we take them around to different organizations they get an inside look at all the career opportunities and also just how those organizations interact with our community to make our community what it is.” -Jessica Fagerbakke
She continues to explain the student graduation from the program that will be happening later this month.
“On Friday March 17th all of the students are going to go job shadow. They get to choose where they would like to job shadow and then we set it up for them and then we celebrate with a graduation luncheon up at MSUN. We have some really great speakers, Chancellor Kegal speaks, we get the superintendent of schools to speak, sometimes we even get some previous leadership high school to come in that are now further in their careers and adults to come and talk about their experience with leadership high school and give them some words of wisdom.” –Jessica Fagerbakke
