CHESTER, Mont. (NMB) – In a unanimous decision on Tuesday, the Liberty County Commissioners approved holding a mail-in ballot 2020 General Election, with the additional option to vote in person.

In the resolution, the County Commissioners said a mail-in election was necessary to, “protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Liberty County.”

The resolution also says a polling place election would have, “posed an enhanced risk due to public health and human safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic by promoting community transmission of the virus and endangering voters, poll workers, and non-voters alike.”

Ballots will be mailed to registered voters on October 9th. Postage will not be necessary to return ballots by mail.

Voters also will have the option to cast an early vote starting on October 2nd at either the Election Administrator’s Office or other designated location.
