CHESTER, Mont. (NMB) – Liberty County Public Health and the Rocky Boy Health Center have announced that they have received their first shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
Liberty County’s shipment arrived Monday and included 100 vaccines and the first shots will be administered today to EMTs and healthcare workers.
Rocky Boy’s shipment of 200 vaccines arrived late Tuesday morning. Shots will begin to be administered to frontline healthcare workers on Wednesday.
As of Tuesday morning, Phillips, Chouteau, Hill and Blaine Counties were all still awaiting their first shipment of vaccines, some of which could arrive as early as today.
An official with Phillips County Health Department says that their awaited shipment of 100 doses of the Moderna vaccine will be more than enough to cover their healthcare workers, and they may use the leftover doses to begin vaccinating their at risk population in the near future.
The Moderna vaccine is a two shot process, with the second shot needing to be taken around 28 days after the first.
Officials from Fort Belknap were unavailable for comment as of this morning. It has previously been reported that Fort Belknap administered 200 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to frontline workers last week.
