The MSU-Northern Lights Basketball Team and Head Coach Shawn Huse have made a big splash signing impact forward, 6-foot-7 Onwaja “JJ” Thomas of Southwestern Oregon Community College. Thomas, of Fort Lauderdale FL, led his team in scoring, rebounding, and shot blocks. Thomas averaged 14.5 points, 8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.4 blocks on 56% shooting from the field.
Thomas was recently named NABC & NWAC All-American, after being named First Team All-Region and Defensive Player of the Year in the South Region.

“Southwestern Oregon earned a trip to the Elite 8 for the first time in eleven years this season, and JJ was a huge reason for that. His squad play great together, is well coached by Coach G and his staff, and while he put up great individual numbers, he did it within the framework of the team. Fresh off a 19-win season and missing the Frontier Conference Championship game in a two-point loss, JJ is a key signing to improve on a great 2022-2023 season.
