Lights Basketball Signs Montana Class ‘B’ Star

On Friday, the MSU-Northern Lights basketball team announced the signing of 6-foot-5 inch forward Jeff Tjelde to its roster for the 2024-25 season. Tjelde, who hails from Fairview, is a multi-sport athlete who excelled in both basketball and football as well as currently in track. He led his Warriors high school basketball team to a State Class ‘B’ runner up finish this past season and was a double-double machine, averaging 18 points and 12.5 rebounds a contest. He also dished out a team-high five assists per game.

He also has athletic roots in football, helping lead the Fairview 8-man team to the State Class ‘B’ title as the starting quarterback and safety.

On his new signing, Northern head coach Shawn Huse said, “Jeff possesses excellent shooting accuracy from the perimeter. He has a great build for a college basketball player already. His ceiling is very high and as good as he has performed so far, his full potential is still pretty untapped.”

Tjelde ended up playing on his future home court back in late March as he made the cut for the 2024 H.I.T tournament, which was hosted by MSU-Northern at the Armory Gym.

The Lights have now signed a starting five of recruits for the future and will look to display the youth movement for the Northern faithful this fall.
