The MSU-N Lights basketball team finished 1-1 at the Comfort Suites Classic in Helena over the weekend.
In the first matchup with Corban University, the Lights fell in dramatic fashion, (63-60). Northern had two chances to tie the game in the final seconds, but three-pointers from Dae’Kwon Watson and Xavier Bailey didn’t go into the basket.
Watson led the way with 16 points, while Taylor Anderson was the game-high scorer with 17 for Corban.
The back end of the road trip concluded with a dominant Lights performance, (78-59) over Embry-Riddle University. Northern shot over 50 percent from 3-point range and raced out to a (24-2) lead to begin the game and never looked back. Zack Martinez led the Lights will 15 points and was one of three players in double-figures for the victors.
Northern (5-2) will now have two weeks off from game action before playing its home opener on Dec. 2 against Concordia University of Edmonton.
