(NMB) The MSU Northern Lights basketball team opened up their California road trip Wednesday with a 71 to 43 victory over La Sierra College. Northern took an early 10 to 3 lead. The Eagles answered with a 10 to 2 run and took a 14 to 12 lead, but it would be all Lights from there. Northern led 31 to 20 at the half and outscored the Eagles 40 to 23 in the second half cruising to the 71 to 43 win.
Northern shot just over 48 percent from the floor and the defense held La Sierra to 34 percent shooting. The Lights made 9 of 12 free throws.
There were three Lights in double figures. Dae’Kwon Watson led the way with 20 points, Miles Daulton had 12 points and Zackry Martinez added 10 points.
The Lights are now 2 and 0 and will continue their California road trip with games against William Jessop University on Friday, at Menlo College on Saturday and finish the road trip with a match-up against Pacific Union on Monday.
