The MSU-Northern Lights Wrestling Team is gearing up for the NAIA Wrestling Tournament held in Wichita, KS from March 3rd-4th. The Lights placed 6th as a team in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Wrestling Tournament and will be sending 6 wrestlers to Nationals.
Martin Wilkie, Devin Crawford, NaKoda Siegel, Rylin Burns, Austin Vanek, and Carl Hansen are the six lights who had great showings at the CCC Tournament and will represent MSU-Northern at Nationals.
When asked about expectations heading into the tournament, Lights Head Coach Tyson Thivierge says they are after trophies:
“You know we’re not going to sit here and say we are wanting a top 10. We want trophies. That’s where our focus is now, we’re hoping to get a trophy as a team. We’re hoping to put those 6 individuals on the All-American Podium. We’re hoping to come away as National Champions.” – Thivierge
Also when asked about the state of mind his team is in, Thivierge says they are ready to scrap:
“These boys are just ready to scrap, they’re always game for everything they step into. It’s that time of the year where it’s tunnel vision now.”
The Tournament is set to begin March 3rd.
