After making a state basketball appearance for the first time since 2020, the Fort Benton boys walked away with two wins and two losses, including a fourth-place finish out of 98 Class ‘C’ schools. New Media Broadcasters got the thoughts of head coach Hardy O’Hara and he said how happy he was with the play of his team and how this would be beneficial in the long run.
“It was just a great time. The boys played great,” O’Hara said. “It would’ve been nice to make a few more shots and get a few more stops either in the state semifinal game or the state consolation game.”
“Moving forward, it should be a good building block for our team,” O’Hara continued.
The Longhorns have a great outlook ahead for the boys’ basketball team, losing just one senior in center Kellan Diekhans. Coach O’Hara was adamant when talking about the state of his future programs.
“It’s abundantly clear that if we want to get to where we want to be again next year, which is the at the state tournament and hopefully in the state semifinals with an opportunity to win a state championship, we’re going to have to continue to work hard,” O’Hara said.
“With all the injured players that we have coming back as well as the players who were active for us this year, if the boys work as hard as they did, there’s no doubt in my mind they have the potential to get back for the opportunity again next year,” O’Hara continued.
