HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Following a push from Montana’s Congressional Delegation and the Governor’s Office, President Joe Biden issued a major disaster declaration in response to the catastrophic flooding that has taken place throughout much of the state.
A press release from the Governor’s Office says this declaration will “supplement state and local resources being used to offset widespread damage because of the flooding.”
The floods have destroyed homes, roads and bridges and caused the temporary closure of Yellowstone National Park.
As of Wednesday, the Montana Department of Transportation estimated damage to transportation infrastructure at $29 million.
