PHILLIPS COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – 42-year-old Martin Ray Campbell of Malta was killed in northern Phillips County on Tuesday morning when the concrete mixing truck he was driving rolled over.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 7:00 AM on US 191 at mile marker 25 near Whitewater, when the truck was headed southbound and drifted off the right-hand side of the roadway. The vehicle then overcorrected to the left and skidded across the highway, then tripped and rolled into the opposite ditch. The vehicle slid through the ditch and came to rest on its passenger side.
Campbell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fatigue is a suspected factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Campbell was the only occupant of the vehicle.
