FLATHEAD COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – The Flathead Beacon reports that a 43-year-old man from Flathead County died on Tuesday after the raft he was in flipped over along the Middle Fork of the Flathead River.
The incident occurred in whitewater rapids below Moccasin Creek. Officials were notified at about 3 PM. Two other people were in the raft but were uninjured.
The victim was believed to have been wearing a life jacket. His body was recovered in West Glacier by a search team.
Officials warn the public to be extremely cautious when recreating on or along water bodies in northwestern Montana due to high flows and water levels.
