BOX ELDER, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) has announced that the public comment period has opened for a proposed project to improve more than four miles of Secondary Highway 448 in the Box Elder area.
The project is slated to start in 2022 and begins at the intersection with US 87 and continues for about 4.5 miles west, ending at the intersection with Kremlin High Grade Road.
Work that is proposed includes applying a scrub seal emulsion, followed by adding a new layer of asphalt. The asphalt would be chip sealed and pavement markings, signage and guardrail will be updated.
MDT says this project is meant to extend the usable life of the roadway.
The construction timeline is subject to change based on completion of project development activities and funding availability.
No new Right-of-Way or utility relocations will be needed.
