FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – Next week, the Fort Belknap Indian Community Land Buy Back Committee will be hosting three community outreach events in our area. The first will be at the Lodge Pole Senior Center on March 12th from 11 AM to 3 PM, on March 13th from 1 to 6 PM at the Great Northern Inn in Havre, and on March 14th at the Dodson Senior Center from 11 AM to 3 PM.
A press release says that it is part of a $1.9 billion settlement agreement with the Department of the Interior to consolidate fractionated land for tribal communities. To date, the program has helped restore the equivalent of more than 2,1 million acres to tribal ownership.
