Mike Jones Speaks about Lady Sugarbeeter’s Season

The Lady Chinook Sugarbeeters and Head Coach Mike Jones have returned home from the Girls Class “C” State Tournament. The Sugarbeeters fell short of a state championship but have much to celebrate and be proud of when reflecting on their season.

Chinook went (25-3) overall on the season and made the State Tournament for the first time in Mike Jones’s tenure as coach. When asked about his thoughts on the season, Coach Jones had this to say:

They did a really good job coming together. Working really hard it started last summer, it’s not just a one-year process. For them to see the tournament and all the benefits of their hard work was awesome to see. It’s something the Chinook Girls haven’t done in a really long time.” – Jones

Chinook had 3 seniors (Torin Cecrle, Anna Terry, & Bree Swanson) play their final game of their careers, when asked about the progress the program has made since their freshman year Coach Jones was proud of the results:

It’s incredible. Only getting a couple wins four years ago with less than ten kids on the roster, to having a full roster and compete at the State Tournament was a tremendous accomplishment.” – Jones

Chinook will look to return to the State Tournament next year and will be in prime position to do so. Returning all but the three seniors mentioned above for the 2023-2024 season.
