HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Monday afternoon, a wildfire just a few miles north of Havre near Highway 232 burned about 600 acres of wheat, stubble, grass and fences. Chief of the Kremlin Volunteer Fire Department Kody Peterson says that the fire was pretty much out by 7:45 Monday evening. He says patrols Tuesday morning found no hot spots and no flare ups were reported overnight.
No cause of the fire of the fire has been determined, but Peterson asks that people be vigilant about safety chains on their trailers, tires and axle bearings to help prevent fires. There were no injuries to people or animals and no structures were burned.
Several different agencies were at the scene of the fire, including Havre, Box Elder, St. Joe, Wild Horse, Bear Paw, Kremlin and Chinook fire departments, and traffic assistance was provided by Havre Border Patrol, Hill County Sheriff’s Officials, Montana Highway Patrol and Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
Peterson wanted to thank everyone involved with fighting Monday’s fire, especially the dispatchers who help them keep track of everything.
