Montana Department of Commerce Announces Grant Awards to Native American-Owned Small Businesses

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Department of Commerce has announced the awarding of a total of $86,500 in funding to support the growth of 14 Native American-owned small businesses through the Tribal Tourism Digital Business Development Grant.

Many businesses along the Hi-Line are receiving grants:

  • From the Chippewa Cree Tribe: Mel’s Diner, doing buisness as Krusty Krab Fire Works (Box Elder)
  • From the Fort Belknap Assiniboine and Gros Ventre Tribes: Bishop Guide Service (Malta)
  • From the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes: Redbyrd Designs (Glasgow)
  • From the Blackfeet Tribe: Leaning Tree Cafe (Babb), Sunshine Woman Creations (East Glacier), and DeBoo’s Ranch Adventures (Valier)

Each business will receive between $5,500 and 6,250 and must provide matching funds.

A press release states that this competitive grant program is meant to help tourism-related businesses emerge from the pandemic better positioned to generate revenue.
