(Hi-Line) The Montana Department of Commerce announced Tuesday that three Montana tribal governments will share more than $122,000 of grant funding to develop, expand and strengthen local tribal tourism assets and economies.
The Chippewa Cree Tribes of Rocky Boy’s will receive $50,000 for the Rocky Boy Rodeo Enhancement Project in Box Elder, and the Fort Belknap Indian Community will receive just over $40,000 for repairs and upgrades to the Aaniih Nakoda Tours vacation rental property in Harlem.
Shane Patacsil, project manager for the Chippewa Cree Tribes of Rocky Boy’s said, “Thanks to the $50,000 in TTG funding, we’ve transformed the Pow Wow Arbor grounds into a safer and more inviting space. These improvements not only elevate the experience for participants and spectators but also empower us to host vibrant pow-wows and community events that celebrate our culture and bring us together.”
The grant funding is provided through Commerce’s Tribal Tourism Grant Program.
