HELENA, Mont. — Montana’s Office of Consumer Protection is warning residents about scam text messages pretending to be from the Motor Vehicle Division.
The texts demand payment for fake traffic fines and threaten registration suspension.
Officials say the MVD does not send payment requests by text.
Montanans should avoid clicking links, watch for poor grammar and unfamiliar numbers, and report suspicious messages.
To verify or report, contact the MVD directly or visit dojmt.gov.
