Montana Lottery Commission Approves Multiple Types of Bets and Sports

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Lottery Commission met on Thursday and approved the types of bets that will be available when legal wagering on professional and collegiate sports begins.

Montana Lottery’s Communications Manager Jennifer Mckee says the first bet in Havre could be placed in mid-March.

“Right on the heels of the terminals being placed, we’ll have teams going out to those locations and training their employees and training the owners. And when we leave, those retail locations will be filling. So, it will be a strategic plan on how and where we roll-out first. It’s really honestly a matter of the difficulty of getting equipment placed across such a big state as Montana but it is not insurmountable by any stretch.”

Approved bets are Moneyling, Over/Under, In-game betting, Parlay, Spread, Prop bets and Future Bets. The approved professional and collegiate sports are Basketball, Baseball, Ice Hockey, Football, Soccer, Tennis, Boxing/MMA, Golf and motor sports. McKee believes these bets will become very popular across Montana.

“I think there is an appetite for it. Certainly, from what we’ve heard from the public they are excited, and they are wondering where it is and when they can start. So, we are very excited to get out there and have them start betting and using our products….we are excited to hear from our first person from Havre whose come into Montana to claim their sports bet Montana winnings.”

As of right now, Murphy’s Irish Pub is the only business licensed for sports betting in Havre.
