(Gov. Gianforte Press) Ahead of America’s 250th birthday, Governor Greg Gianforte announced that Montana was ranked as the second most patriotic state, behind Virginia.
A report from WalletHub based patriotism on thirteen indicators, including military service, veteran population, 2024 presidential election voters, and volunteerism. The report also highlighted that Montana had the highest 2020 primary election turnout in the nation.
Montana’s 101 veterans per 1000 civilians placed the state fifth in veterans per capita, helping with the overall ranking. Montana also ranks second in jury service, and number of AmeriCorps volunteers.
37 percent of Montanans indicated a level of volunteering, one of only 10 states in the US with more than 35% volunteerism.
