(Sula) – An 81-year-old Whitehall man died Monday afternoon following a motorcycle crash on US Highway 93 in Ravalli County. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just after three p.m. near mile-marker four-point-two, close to the town of Sula.
Investigating officials report the man was traveling southbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a sharp left curve. The motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a concrete barrier, throwing the rider.
Authorities state the man was thrown down a steep embankment. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montana Highway Patrol indicates that speed is suspected as a factor in the single-vehicle accident, while road conditions were reported as dry.
