HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Montana State University-Extension is hosting its annual cropping seminar series January 10-14 in the Golden Triangle Area.
The tour will stop at the 4-H Chuckwagon at the Hill County Fairgrounds on Thursday the 13th, and Extension Agent Colleen Pegar says commercial and private pesticide licensing recertification credits will be available.
“The Havre stop is going to have three pesticide points. It’s very important for producers to get these recertification credits. They have to obtain six credits every five years of the recertification cycle. So by attending one of these cropping seminars, you can get half of those credits knocked off in one shot. So we tried to put together a program that would work so that every spot (on the tour) gets those three credits, as well.”
Speakers will discuss numerous topics such as wheat stem sawfly management, integrated pest management, and building relationships between locals and newcomers.
The tour will also be making stops in Great Falls, Chester, Choteau, Conrad, Cut Bank, Fort Benton, Shelby and Stanford.
Registration for the free seminars begins at 8:30 AM on the morning of the event, but those interested in attending are asked to contact their local Extension office in advance.
