MSU-N Wrestling Loses to Providence At Home

In a matchup of the only two sanctioned collegiate wrestling programs in the state of Montana, the MSU-Northern Lights were defeated at home by the University of Providence, (27-10) on Wednesday night.

The Lights started off the dual with 125-pound redshirt freshman Tanner Cook defeating Deandre Coles by major decision to give Northern a (4-0) lead out of the gate. Providence answered by winning the next four matchups.

It wasn’t until the 165-pound match that redshirt junior Devin Crawford came out victorious for the Lights. Redshirt senior NaKoda Siegel also claimed a win over Jordan Komac by decision and the total score was (10-13).

The dagger in the dual came when, at 197 pounds, Sawyer Hobbs of Providence pinned Carl Hansen and solidified the Argos’ lead for good. MSU-N will be in Des Moines, IA for the Grandview Open on Saturday, which will be an all-day affair.
