The MSU-Northern rodeo teams came up with top performances in both Miles Community College rodeos over the weekend. New Media Broadcasters discussed it all with head coach Doug Kallenberger, who said that the teams are right there to contend and that some individuals have a shot at the even grander College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR).
“Preston Bird and Chance Threeirons pole vaulted themselves into a third place going into the last rodeo, which is right where they need to be,” Kallenberger said.
“Talan Cummins still has a chance. Brittney Cox and Georgia Orahood still have a chance to make the College Finals (Rodeo),” Kallenberger continued.
“All together, it was just good individual performances. It was fun to see and fun to watch,” Kallenberger said. “Lots of kids back to the short round. That’s really great for our small team.”
One final spring rodeo awaits the Lights and Skylights and it’ll be down at the University of Montana in Missoula. Kallenberger said what he would like his team to focus on the most to close out the spring season on a high.
“I think the key to this rodeo is: we’ve been training for months,” Kallenberger said. “We’re going to let our training take over. We’re going to have fun. The chips are going to fall where they fall.”
“I just told everybody, ‘We’re going to be ready, but stay loose and have fun,'” Kallenberger continued. “So that’s our main focus going into this last (rodeo).”
The University of Montana rodeo schedule will have the first performance at 7pm on Friday, followed by a 9am slack and championship short-go at 7pm on Saturday.
