MSU-Northern rodeo continued its quest to be tops in the Montana State rodeo on Friday night. After becoming the second-best women’s all-around participant, Georgia Orahood added to that total, winning the breakaway roping competition with an average time of 5.3 seconds, earning 60 points. Her total on Friday night was two seconds.
Orahood also got 30 points as a result of placing fourth in goat tying, securing a 13.7 second average. Right behind her was teammate Kenda Statham at 14.6 seconds, getting another 20 team points. Brittney Cox was sixth in barrel racing, having an average of 28.32 seconds, which gave Northern another 10 points.
Individually on Friday night in the Long Go, Brier Selvidge was a third-place steer wrestler, doing so in 5.4 seconds. Brooklin Baukol finished sixth in barrel racing and had a time of 14.09.
Allee Bartlett did the breakaway roping in 3.2 seconds, good for fifth place in the Short Go. Cox followed up her Long Go with a 14.15 time in the barrel racing, which was seventh. Again, Orahood and Statham were fourth and fifth in the goat tying with Orahood claiming 6.6 seconds and Statham doing it in 7.4 seconds.
Rodeo No. 2 kicks off on Saturday night from the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse and everyone resets to zero for a new competition. Stay tuned to New Media Broadcasters when those results come in.
