The MSU-Northern rodeo teams closed out the 2023-24 season at the University of Montana rodeo over the weekend. In a surprise to no one, Northern had participants at the top when it came to the averages. Senior Garrett Cunningham padded his stats in the saddle bronc, taking the crown with a score of 148. Senior Mikenna Schauer finished in a dead heat for second in the goat tying competition at 15.1 seconds. Junior Jill Marcenko had a second place finish in barrel racing, completing it in 36.46.
It was a good night overall for the Skylights rodeo team, which finished second in the team competition as well as second throughout the course of the regular season. The next stop for MSU-Northern rodeo is the College National Finals Rodeo, which will be held in its annual battleground of Casper, WY. The festivities run June 9-15.
