(Havre) The Montana Farmers Union is sponsoring the Congressional Primary Debates again this year.

The republican debate will take place at Montana State University Northern on Tuesday, April 30th. New Media Broadcasters spoke with MFU president Walter Schweitzer about the event.

“The Montana Farmers Union is over 100 years old, and our core principals are education, legislation, and cooperation. This debate gives us an opportunity to educate the voters on the congressional candidates for the eastern Montana district. The election is going to be starting here with mail in ballots it starts here in a couple weeks. This gives a real opportunity for the candidates to distinguish themselves from their other opponents.”

The MFU said in a press release that all the Republican candidates will be in attendance with the exception of Dennis Rehberg who declined to participate.
