MSU President Says Next Steps in Leadership at MSUN Will Be Communicated Soon

(Bozeman) – Last week, Montana State University – Northern Chancellor Greg Kegel announced his retirement effective August 1st, 2026. In an e-mail to the Montana State University affiliate campuses, MSU President Brock Tessman issued the following statement.

“Greg has been a fixture at MSU-Northern for decades, and I’m so grateful for his steady service leading the campus. He’s committed the better part of his life to the university, to higher education in Montana and to serving the community he loves, and that is genuinely, truly admirable. For now, Commissioner Christian and I are focused on celebrating Chancellor Kegel, and we’ll determine the next steps in the leadership transition and communicate them soon.”
