BLAINE COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – Municipal elections are taking place in Blaine, Chouteau and Phillips Counties, and ballots are beginning to be mailed out.
Ballots for registered voters in Fort Benton and Geraldine were mailed on Wednesday. Voters in Fort Benton have a choice between Lanny L. Walker and Joseph E. Curl for Mayor. The other contested race in Fort Benton is for Ward 3 of the City Council. This ward represents the area from 11th Street south towards the Fairgrounds, and the candidates are Natasha Heiken, Todd James Galbaugh and Vern Anderson.
For Geraldine, voters will select two of the following candidates to represent them on the town council: Virginia Johnston, Mike Qunell, Shaya Clark, and Perry W. Joyce.
Ballots for registered voters in Chinook, Dodson, Harlem, Malta (Ward 1 only) and Saco are being mailed out on Friday.
For Chinook, voters have a choice between Keith Hanson and Glenn Huestis for Mayor. For Ward 1 of the City Council, voters on the west side of town will choose between Robert Smith and Mike Radovich. For Ward 2, voters on the east side of town will get to pick either Mitch Haider or Shannon R. Sattleen to represent them.
In Dodson, the choice for Mayor is between Angel Arocha and Glenn Dolphay. For the town council, there are three candidates battling for two spots: Skip Cole, Francine Stiffarm, and Ava Welch.
In Harlem, the race for Mayor is down to two candidates: Kim Hansen and Douglas Stuart.
For Malta, only voters in Ward 1 will be mailed a ballot, as that is where the only contested race is in town. The Ward represents the west side of town plus the Hillcrest area, with 1st Avenue East being the border of the ward. The candidates for the spot to represent Ward 1 on the City Council are David Rummel and Steen McFadden.
Voters in Saco will vote for a Mayor, with L.A. “Mac” MacIntosh and Wayne Woodall competing.
Voters that opt to mail their ballots in are urged to do so well in advance of the November 2nd election to ensure their vote is counted. Otherwise, ballots can be dropped off at your County Courthouse during regular business hours or on election day before 8 PM.
The deadline for late registration is noon on November 1st. To register, please visit the Clerk and Recorder’s Office at your County Courthouse.
There are no municipal elections this year in Hill or Liberty Counties.
