CONRAD, Mont. (NMB) – The name of the person who died when they were ejected from the vehicle they were driving southwest of Conrad on Sunday morning has been released.
The Pondera County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as 17-year-old Briton Alan Bunnell of Shelby.
The Montana Highway Patrol received the report of the single-vehicle crash at 11:20 AM on Sunday.
According to the crash report, a Pontiac G6 was traveling eastbound near mile marker 16 on secondary road 219 when the passenger-side tires exited the roadway to the right. The vehicle over-corrected to the left and returned to the center of the roadway, then over-corrected to the right and into a field. It turned clockwise and the nose of the vehicle on the driver side impacted the dirt. The vehicle tripped and rolled multiple times before coming to rest on the roof. The driver and the rear passenger were not wearing seat-belts and were ejected.
The two passengers, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old male, both from Shelby, sustained injuries.
Trooper Monte Richmond says the only person in the vehicle wearing a seatbelt was the passenger in the front seat. He only suffered minor injuries.
The passenger in the back seat was life-flighted to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls. His condition is not known.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected.
The road was clear and dry at the time of the crash.
