(Helena)- People wearing bright orange vests are coming to the national forest, but don’t be surprised. Forest managers are gathering visitor survey data from the Lewis and Clark National Forest. The survey began this October and will run through September 30th, 2023.
During this time visitors may encounter Forest Service employees wearing bright orange vest and/or a sign reading, “traffic survey ahead,” near developed and dispersed recreation sights and along forest service roads on the Helena, Townsend and Lincoln ranger districts.
Forest Recreation Program Manager Rory Glueckert says, “although the survey is entirely voluntary, participation is important so we can assess visitor experiences in the forest and strive to make it a better place to visit.”
