National Science Foundation Grant for MSUN

Montana State University-Northern was recently awarded a grant just over $99,000 from the National Science Foundation. Karen Billmayer, Assistant Professor of Agriculture at Northern, tells us what her portion of that grant will be used for.

“We were able to find specific areas of agriculture, in particular soil science and watershed management, and we were able to tie that into the NSF Grant. I just looked at equipment that I was needing for my classes. One of my big classes is a watershed management class so we go out and do watershed quality test feed, look at macroinvertebrates, look at the health, and how agriculture impacts our watershed since we know water is a hot topic. We never have enough. So we were able to get some really cool equipment that I think will really help students with the hands on aspect of that class.”
