HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Salvation Army and Havre’s Food Bank will once again be offering Easter Food Baskets to low-income and needy families in the area. Salvation Army Social Services Director Trina Crawford says people need to make an appointment with her office by calling 265-6411 by April 2nd. People who call after that date will be placed on a waiting list.
“Make sure you bring your documentation, which includes a picture ID for the person filling out the form, social security cards for all family members, proof of residency, and proof of income. And once you get that there, we’ll get you signed up for it. And then we’ll have a time slot for you on that date, and then you’ll be able to get your Easter food basket.”
Food Bank Manager Sammantha Nimmick says these baskets come with everything they need for an Easter meal.
“We’ll generally have either a ham or a turkey in there, rolls, butter, some sort of vegetable, a fruit cocktail usually, and little treats, maybe a pie or a cake, some candy. We just got in a large donation of Easter candy, so there should be some of those for the kids, which will be nice.
Income limits for this program are higher than government-run programs, so people who don’t qualify for a program like SNAP, may be eligible for these food boxes.
