A new meat processing co-op is opening soon in Havre, Montana. Bill Jones has been selected as the general manager for the co-op. He is a professional butcher and is now presented with the opportunity to train others in his trade through MSUN.
“Super excited to work with Northern. Hopefully we can attract some student through Northern and do some good trade work with that. Get some kids trained and send them out into the industry in a competitive manner rather than just I’m here to learn how to cut meat, but rather show up and be like I know how to cut meat and be confident in it.“-Bill Jones Montana Premium Processing Co-op General Manager
The job dignifies the trade of butchering by allowing the students to engage in the full process rather than operating in an assembly line as they would in a traditional processing facility. The knowledge also empowers students as competent workers.
