The MSU-Northern basketball teams dropped games to Carroll College at the Armory Gym on Thursday night. The Skylights fell, (59-45), while the Lights blew a second half lead and lost, (69-65)
For the Skylights (10-13, 4-6), they couldn’t get any consistency going on the offensive side of the floor, walking their way to 19 turnovers. They allowed reigning Frontier Conference Player of the Year Jamie Pickens to get her second straight double-double against Northern as she finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Addi Ekstrom finished with a team-high 15 for Carroll. Skylights senior forward Ryley Kehr was outstanding in the first quarter, scoring nine of her game-high 16 in the first ten minutes of the game.
For the Lights (10-13, 2-8), they held a halftime lead of (39-33), but were overcome by good shooting from the Saints, who made almost half of their field goals from beyond the arc. Andrew Cook led the way with 18 points, including 12 in the second half. Senior guard Zack Martinez was the leading scorer again for the Lights with 23 points.
The Skylights and Lights will be back at home this Saturday when they host Montana Tech. Skylights and Lady Orediggers (11-12, 2-8) take the court at 2pm with the Lights and No. 7 Orediggers (19-4, 9-1) to follow. Listen to Noah Friedman call the action on KPQX-92.5FM and HiLineToday.com.
