HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Northern Montana Hospital (NMH) has announced that they have acquired a 3-D Mammography machine for use in their Imaging Department.
The Selenia Dimensions Mammography machine uses Hologic 3D Mammography technology to help detect breast cancer. The machine has a quickerscan time and a lower dose of radiation than typical Mammography machines.
The 3D exam allows doctors to examine breast tissue layer by layer, unlike 2D machines.
The American Cancer Society recommends women should have the choice to start annual mammograms between ages 40-44; but should have annual mammograms from ages 45-53, and then bi-annual mammograms from then on.
Patients who have been waiting on the availability of appointments for their annual mammograms are encouraged to call and book an appointment at 262-1218.
