Northstars Advance Past Mission Valley

Havre, MT – After a rough showing in round one, the Havre Northstars are back on their feet with a 13-7 defeat of the Mission Valley Mariners Thursday morning 13-7.

Both teams came out the gate hot on offense as Havre struck first with two runs in top of the first, before Mission Valley responded with three runs of their own.

The Nothstars and Mariners cooled off quickly with Mission Valley scoring the only run in the second third or fourth innings to lead 4-2 heading into the fifth.

Havre was able to get back on track and score 3 runs in the top of fifth. The Mariners responded to retake the lead 6-5, heading into the sixth inning.

The Northstar offense was just getting warmed up as they drove home three runs in the sixth and added five more runs on the back of a Quin Elliott grand slam in the top of the seventh to lead 13-6.

Mission Valley knocked home their final run in the bottom of the seventh before Teegan Solomon sealed the deal throwing his only strike out oi two thirds innings pitched.

Simeon Keever pitched two innings late in the ball game for Havre without giving up a single hit or run.

Quin Elliot got the start on the mound pitching four and one third innings where he gave up six runs on five hits while throwing eight strikeouts.

Elliott finished the game going three for three at the plate with six RBIs. Kody Standiford and Teegan Solomon each had one hit for two RBIs.

The Northstars will play at 2:30 Friday afternoon and await the loser Between the Dillion Cubs and the Glendive Blue Devils.
